The Full Story

The NDIS is evolving — and so is the future of independent support work.

The ISW Collective was created for independent support workers and unregistered providers who are looking for a sustainable pathway forward while continuing to provide the quality, personalised support their participants value.

The NDIS landscape is shifting—and independent support workers are feeling it. Rather than

The idea began with founder Marisol, who entered the disability sector in 2021 and spent a number of  years working as an independent support worker. During this time, Marisol saw first hand the incredible value of independent support — the strong relationships, flexibility, and person-centred approach that many participants rely on.

As the NDIS landscape is beginning to shift towards greater regulation and registration requirements, Marisol recognised that many independent workers were facing the challenge of navigating registration, compliance, costs, and administrative pressures while wanting to continue doing what they loved.

Fortunately, Marisol connected with Tim Deverell from Myndie Care, who shared the vision of creating a pathway that allowed independent support workers to maintain their autonomy, continue supporting their participants, and operate within an NDIS registered provider framework.

Following this collaboration, more independent support workers began reaching out to Marisol, seeking the same opportunity.

This led to the creation of the ISW Collective — a model developed in partnership with Myndie Care to support a wider community of independent support workers and providers navigating change.

Today, Marisol works as the Manager of Myndie Care’s South Australia office while leading the national rollout of the ISW Collective. Alongside supporting new independent support workers and unregistered providers seeking a pathway towards registration, Marisol continues to welcome new participants and connect them with trusted members of the ISW Collective community.

The ISW Collective offers workers the flexibility to choose a pathway that best suits their needs, including operating as a subcontractor or employee under Myndie Care’s registration, while continuing to deliver meaningful, person-centred support.

Together, the ISW Collective and Myndie Care are building a connected community of support workers committed to maintaining participant choice, continuity of care, and quality support in an evolving NDIS environment.

If you are an independent support worker, unregistered provider, or participant wanting to learn more about the ISW Collective and how it can support your journey, Marisol would love to connect and have a chat.

In Collaboration with Myndie Care

The ISW Collective is proud to collaborate with Myndie Care, founded by Tim Deverell, who brings both professional experience and lived experience as an NDIS participant.

As a thalidomide survivor, Tim has a deep understanding of the importance of human dignity, choice, inclusion, and disability rights. His strong advocacy for the rights and voices of people with disability aligns closely with the values that underpin the ISW Collective.

This shared commitment to human rights, inclusion, and empowerment — including Marisol’s passionate advocacy for equality and inclusion within the LGBTQIA+ community — has created a strong partnership built on shared values and a vision for better support.

Together, Myndie Care and the ISW Collective are paving the way forward — navigating NDIS changes, supporting the community through transition, and creating pathways that help independent support workers and participants prepare for the future.
